This policy covers srikanthbadavath.com — my personal portfolio and blog. It explains what information the site collects, why, and how you can opt out or ask for it to be deleted. The Chrome extension Marginalia has its own, separate privacy policy, since it handles data differently (entirely on-device, no server at all).
The short version: This site has no ad trackers and no analytics. The only personal data it collects is the email address you give it if you subscribe to the blog newsletter, and it's used for exactly one thing: emailing you when a new post goes up.
Information Collected
Blog Newsletter (email address)
If you subscribe to the blog via the form on /blog/, your email address is sent to a Google Apps Script I run and stored in a private Google Sheet, along with the date you subscribed and your subscription status. It's used only to:
- Send you a one-time welcome email confirming the subscription
- Email you when a new blog post is published (checked once daily, at most one email per new post)
Your email address is never sold, rented, or shared with any third party, and is never used for anything beyond the two purposes above.
Local browser storage
A few small pieces of data are kept only in your own browser and never sent anywhere:
localStorageon the blog remembers which posts you've already opened, so visited posts can be marked read. This never leaves your browser.sessionStorageis used briefly to skip the intro loading animation on repeat page loads within the same browser tab session.
Standard hosting logs
This site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like virtually every web host, GitHub's servers log standard request data (such as IP address, browser type, and the page requested) to operate and secure the service. I don't have access to or use this data myself; it's covered by GitHub's own privacy statement.
Fonts and a few script libraries are loaded from Google Fonts and cdnjs (Cloudflare). Loading any file from a third-party domain means that domain's servers see a standard request (including your IP address) as part of serving the file — that's normal browser behavior, not something this site adds on top. See Google's and Cloudflare's privacy policies for how they handle that.
What This Site Does Not Do
- No Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other analytics/advertising tracker
- No advertising cookies, and no cookies used for cross-site tracking of any kind
- No selling or sharing of your email address with third parties
- No account system, so there's no password or profile data to protect in the first place
Unsubscribing & Data Deletion
Every notification email includes an Unsubscribe link in the footer. Clicking it immediately marks your email as unsubscribed in the Google Sheet, and no further emails are sent to it. If you'd like your email address removed entirely rather than just marked unsubscribed, email badavathsrikanth149@gmail.com and I'll delete the row.
Children's Privacy
This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised to reflect it.
